Workshop details

A series of creative workshops with a pop up exhibition at the end of the project, all free to people in the east end of Newcastle. If you live on or around Chillingham Road, Heaton Road, Heaton Park Road, Shields Road or Welbeck Road we'd love to see you! This is a pilot scheme, run with a view to rolling it out across the Toon and then the country, so if you're further away do please get in touch to be added to our waiting list for future events. This series is especially geared towards budding artists who would like to show their work but perhaps aren't sure where to start, or have faced obstacles along the way. We will create book themed boxes that tell stories through art, writing, papercraft and more, while Karen leads you through the process and benefits of putting on your own event. A great opportunity to gain some experience, make some new friends and ask any questions you might have about turning your hobby into something more. Please note - this is not a teaching workshop in the sense that instructions are given to create a specific thing, instead it's an open invitation to explore your own ideas with the help and support of the group. To get you started, bocs blanks and basic materials are provided along with some templates and suggestions for how you can fill yours. If you have a preferred art form and want to bring your own things to use at the workshop, you are more than welcome to do so as long as it's safe for everyone, so no solvents or heat sources etc. If you're not sure just drop us a line.
